SAGB PRIVACY POLICY
We ask that you read this privacy policy carefully as it contains
important information on who we are, how and why we collect,
store, use and share personal information, your rights in relation to
your personal information and on how to contact us and
supervisory authorities in the event you have a complaint.
Who we are
The Spiritualist Association of Great Britain (company number
00086844; registered charity number 225455) ("SAGB", "we", "us",
"our") collects, uses and is responsible for certain personal
information about you. When we do so we are regulated under the
General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") which applies across
the European Union (including in the United Kingdom) and we are
responsible as ‘controller’ of that personal information for the
purposes of those laws.
The personal information we collect and use
Information collected by us
The personal information we collect depends on whether you are a
member ("Member") of the SAGB and/or a participant
("Participant") in the activities and programmes we provide (for
example you contact us, visit us and/or make a booking in relation
to a course, a service, special events, sittings or other activities we
offer):
Members
We will collect details of your name, address, phone number and
email address (if you choose to provide it) together with any
payment card/bank details you may provide. Where you pay by
card once your transaction is processed your card details are
shredded and not retained by us.
We also collect details of whether or not you wish to be sent our
magazine by post.
Where Members are Participants we may collect additional
information as noted below.
Participants
Where you provide it to us we may collect details of your name,
address, phone number and email address (if you choose to
provide it) together with any payment card/bank details you may
provide. Where you pay by card once your transaction is processed
your card details are shredded and not retained by us.
Where you attend events where catering is provided we may collect
details of your dietary preferences.
You may also provide us with personal information relating to any
healing request you may make.
Information collected from other sources
We use CCTV at our premises.
How we use your personal information
We use this information to:
administer your membership and provide you with the benefits of
membership (if you are a member)
provide goods and services (including through mediums and
sittings we may hold in our premises or online or by telephone)
process payments
inform you about our activities
(for CCTV) assist us with the security and safety of our premises
Who we share your personal information with
We will provide your personal information to our payment provider
(currently WorldPay – for how WorldPay treats your personal
information please see https://www.worldpay.com/uk/worldpay-
privacy-notice) in connection with payments you make to us.
We will not provide your personal information to any other third
party unless we are required by law to do so, you ask us to (for
example in connection with a healing request), we reasonably need
to do so in an emergency, or where we need to do so to be able to
enforce our legal rights.
Whether information has to be provided by you, and if so why
The provision of your contact (and where necessary) payment
details is required from you in order to deal with your enquiry
and/or arrange and manage any booking and/or your membership.
If you do not provide us this information we will not be able to
proceed with your booking or membership application. We will
inform you at the point of collecting information from you, whether
you are required to provide the information to us.
How long your personal information will be kept
We keep your membership details for as long as your membership
is current and then for a limited period of thereafter (in case you
subsequently renew).
We keep booking records for seven years.
Other information we keep for as long as reasonably required in
relation to the purposes for which it was supplied or (if longer) for
as long as required by law.
Reasons we can collect and use your personal information
We rely on the following lawful reasons to collect and use your
personal data and on occasion more than one lawful basis may
apply to the processing:
to perform or enter into any contract with you
our legitimate interests in promoting spiritualism and pursuing our
objectives to both our benefit and yours
to comply with our legal obligations
to protect your vital interests or that of another person (e.g. in an
emergency)
(for CCTV) our legitimate interests in ensuring the safety and
security of our premises and those who visit them
where you consent to the processing where we ask you to (e.g.
where we consider it desirable to do so, or for certain sorts of
marketing or other processing where the law requires this)
In addition to the extent the information we process is considered
to be special category information then we will process it both
under the applicable lawful basis above and:
in carrying out our legitimate activities as a not-for-profit body with
a philosophical and/or a religious aim in line with Article 9(2)(d)
GDPR; or
with your explicit consent
Transfer of your information out of the EEA
We do not ourselves currently envisage transferring personal
information to persons located outside the European Economic
Area (EEA). Worldpay may transfer your personal information
outside of the UK – see https://www.worldpay.com/uk/worldpay-

Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation you have a number
of important rights free of charge. In summary, those include rights
to:
fair processing of information and transparency over how we use
your use personal information that this Privacy Policy is already
designed to address
access to your personal information and to certain other
supplementary information
require us to correct any mistakes in your information which we
hold
require the erasure of personal information concerning you in
certain situations
receive the personal information concerning you which you have
provided to us, in a structured, commonly used and machine-
readable format and have the right to transmit those data to a third
party in certain situations
object at any time to processing of personal information
concerning you for direct marketingobject to decisions being taken
by automated means which produce legal effects concerning you or
similarly significantly affect you
object in certain other situations to our continued processing of
your personal information
where the processing is based on your consent you may withdraw
your consent at any time
otherwise restrict our processing of your personal information in
certain circumstances

let us have proof of your identity and address (a copy of your
driving licence or passport and a recent utility or credit card bill),
and
let us know the information to which your request relates.
Keeping your personal information secure
We have appropriate security measures in place to prevent
personal information from being accidentally lost, or used or
accessed in an unauthorised way. We limit access to your personal
information to those who have a genuine need to know it. Those
processing your information will do so only in an authorised
manner and are subject to a duty of confidentiality.

How to complain
We hope that we can resolve any query or concern you raise about
our use of your information.
The General Data Protection Regulation also gives you right to
lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the
European Union (or European Economic Area) state where you
work, normally live or where any alleged infringement of data
protection laws occurred. The supervisory authority in the UK is the

Changes to this privacy policy
This privacy policy was published on 20 August 2018.
We may change this privacy policy from time to time, when we do
we will inform you via email or by posting the updated policy on
our website.
